Use Lockers
Event reminders and notices
See which reminder emails and starts-soon notices you get after you register for an event, and turn them off or on for that event only.
The short version
- With reminders on, Lockers emails you about 24 hours before the event starts and 15 minutes before each session you picked. A one-session event needs no picks.
- Turn reminders off or on from your pass, or use the unsubscribe link in any reminder email. Either one changes that event only.
- Hosts do not schedule reminders. They go to everyone registered with reminders on, and changing a time moves them.
Before you start
- You are registered for the event. Reminders go only to people who registered, and guests and ticket holders get them too.
- Reminders go to the email address on your Lockers account.
- Reminders start switched on when you register. The sheet you register or get a ticket in has Remind me by email turned on, and you can turn it off before you finish. Registering in one click turns reminders on.
Which reminders you get
Lockers sends two kinds of reminder email for each event you register for.
- The day before: one email about 24 hours before the event's first session. The subject starts with Tomorrow: or Upcoming:, followed by the event name.
- Starts soon: one email 15 minutes before each session you picked. The subject is the session name followed by starts soon. On a multi-session event, star a session to add its reminder, and remove the star to stop it.
- A one-session event has nothing to pick, so its starts-soon email comes 15 minutes before the event starts.
- A multi-day event sends one day-before email, ahead of its first session, and a starts-soon email for each session you picked.
- Breaks on the agenda never get a reminder.
What a reminder email contains
Reminder emails come from your community's name followed by via Lockers, and the community name sits at the top of each one. Times are in the event's time zone, which the email names after the times.
- When: the date and the start and end times.
- Where: the venue and any directions if you attend in person. If you attend online, it reads Online. Join from the event page.
- Your sessions: in the day-before email for a multi-session event, each session you picked with its time. A line under each session shows its track, if it has one, and whether it runs online or in person. If you have not picked any sessions yet, the email says so and links to Choose your sessions.
- Open your event: a button that opens the event page.
Turn reminders off or on
The change applies to this event only, and your registration and session picks stay as they are. Turning reminders off also stops the starts-soon notices for that event. Turn them back on before the event and the reminders still to come reach you as usual.
If you cancel your registration, every reminder for the event stops.
- 1
Open the event page
Your pass sits at the top of the event page from the time you register until the first session starts. After that, the event-day card takes its place, and the switch sits below it as Email reminders for your next sessions while you have sessions ahead.
- 2
Use the switch
On a multi-session or hybrid event, the Email reminders switch sits beside What happens next. On any other event, the Email me reminders switch sits at the bottom of your pass.
- 3
Or use Manage
Open Manage on your pass and choose Turn off email reminders. When reminders are off, the same item reads Turn on email reminders.
Unsubscribe from a reminder email
Every reminder email ends with a link that turns off reminders for that one event. If your mail app shows its own Unsubscribe button on a reminder, it does the same thing.
Reminders for your other events keep coming. The switch on this event's pass now shows off, so you can turn reminders back on there.
Event reminders are separate from a community's optional emails. Unsubscribing from one leaves the other as it was.
- 1
Select the link
At the bottom of any reminder email, select Unsubscribe from reminders for this event.
- 2
Confirm
A page titled Event reminders reads Stop email reminders for this event. Your registration and tickets will stay the same. Select Unsubscribe.
- 3
Check the result
The page reads You are unsubscribed, with the note Email reminders for this event are off. Your registration and tickets have not changed.
Starts-soon notices
Along with each starts-soon email, Lockers adds a notice with the session name followed by starts soon, and the start time under it. The day-before email has no notice.
Members find the notice under Notifications in the community. Registered guests and ticket holders who are not members have no Notifications, so their notices appear near the top of the event page, up to two at a time. Select Open to go to the event, or Dismiss to clear the notice.
Notices follow the same reminders switch as email. With reminders off for an event, neither one arrives.
When reminders are paused
If your pass shows Email reminders are paused for now, Lockers has paused reminder delivery. It is not a setting you or the host turned on. While the pause lasts, no reminder emails or starts-soon notices go out, and the register sheet and the Manage menu hide the reminder choices. Your own setting for the event stays as it was.
For hosts
Reminders go out on their own to every registered person with reminders on. Guests and ticket holders get them the same way members do. You do not schedule them, and the builder has no reminder setting.
Reminders follow the schedule. Change a start time and the reminders move to the new time, and a reminder queued for the old time is dropped before it sends. Delete a session and its reminders stop. Deleting the event stops them all.
Removing someone from the community or refunding their ticket ends their access to the event, and their reminders stop with it.
The day-before email needs about 24 hours of notice. An event published, or moved to a start, less than a day away sends only the starts-soon reminders.
In-person reminders show the Venue and the Directions (optional) note from the event, so put parking or entrance details there.
A reply to a reminder email goes to the address saved under Replies go to for your community.
Creating or hosting an event does not register you. To get reminders yourself, register like anyone else.
If it does not work
- No day-before email: you registered, or the event was published, less than about 24 hours before it started. The starts-soon reminders still come.
- No starts-soon email for a session: on a multi-session event, reminders go only for sessions you starred. Check My schedule on your pass.
- No reminders at all: make sure reminders are on in your pass and the email address on your Lockers account is current. Check your spam folder as well.
- Reminders stopped reaching your address: Lockers stops sending reminders to an address after an email to it bounced or was reported as spam. Contact support.
- The switch is not on the pass: once the first session starts, the event-day card replaces your pass, and the switch sits below it as Email reminders for your next sessions. It stays while you have sessions ahead. The link Unsubscribe from reminders for this event in any reminder email works at any time.
- We could not change your reminders. Check your connection and try again.
- Link unavailable. The page asks you to open the unsubscribe link in your event reminder, because the link you used is incomplete or changed.
- Please try again later. Lockers could not update the preference this time, so open the link again later or use the switch on your pass.
