Join an event on the day
See when the join card replaces your pass, how to get into a Live room session, a meeting link, or a venue, and where replays show up afterward.
The short version
- When any session of an event you registered for is on, the join card replaces the pass at the top of the event page.
- A Live room session shows Join once a host goes live. Meeting-link and in-person sessions put the card up at their start time, with Open the meeting link or Directions.
- Replays come only from Live room sessions that were recorded, and the Replays tab on the event page collects them.
Before you start
- You are registered for the event. The join card shows only for people who registered, and the guide Register for an event covers that step.
- Members open the event page from Calendar. Registered guests and ticket holders find it under Your events.
- Reminder emails have an Open your event button that goes to the event page.
When the join card appears
Before the event, the top of the event page holds your pass and its countdown. When any session of the event is on, the join card takes that spot, with the Your pass label and a Live now badge. The page updates on its own, so you do not need to reload it.
The card follows the schedule through the day:
- A Live room session puts the card up when a host goes live. Owners and admins can open the room up to 15 minutes before the start time, and Join appears as soon as they do.
- A meeting-link or in-person session puts the card up at its start time. The page checks the clock every 30 seconds.
- Between sessions, and overnight on a multi-day event, the card stays up and lists your next session.
- After the last session ends, the top of the page shows the event again, with Watch replays or This event has ended.
Join a Live room session

Wait for the host
Until a host goes live, your pass shows the countdown and a note that Join appears when the host goes live. Leave the page open, or come back at the start time.

Select Join
When the session is live, select Join on the join card. The room opens over the event page, and attendees watch and chat without a camera or microphone.

Leave and come back
Select Leave to return to the event page. Join works again for as long as the session is live.
Join with a meeting link
An event with a meeting link runs in the video tool the host chose, outside Lockers. At the start time, the join card shows Open the meeting link, which opens the meeting in a new tab.
The same link sits in the Where card of the event details as Open link, with the note Opens your meeting in a new tab. That link works before the start time too. Only people who can attend see it, and everyone else sees The link shows here for people who can attend.
Attend in person
The Where card in the event details shows the venue and its address. People who can attend also see any notes the host added, such as parking or which entrance to use. Select Directions to open a Google Maps search for the address in a new tab.
When the session starts, the join card shows Directions beside it. If your email reminders are on, each reminder email also includes the address and the host's notes.
Hybrid events and how you attend
A hybrid event has a venue and an online way in, through the Live room or a meeting link. You picked In person or Online when you registered, and your pass shows that choice under How you'll attend.
You can switch on the pass until the first session starts. The choice locks sooner if a host opens a Live room session before its start time. On the day, the corner of the join card shows In person or Online, and what the card offers depends on the session:
- A session with a Live room shows Join, whichever way you registered.
- A session marked In person only shows Directions.
- At a hybrid event with a meeting link, the card shows Directions if you chose In person and Open the meeting link if you chose Online.
- The Where card keeps Open link for everyone who can attend, so you can still reach the meeting after you choose In person.
Follow a multi-session day
On a multi-session event, the top line of the join card names the event and today's date, plus the day, such as Day 2 of 3, when the event runs over several days. The Live now badge adds a count when more than one session is on.
Your starred session that is on now sits first, marked In your schedule. It lists the kind of session, the hosts, and the time it started, and Until shows when it ends. If you have not starred anything, the first live session takes that place. When none of your starred sessions is on, the card says Nothing in your schedule is on right now. If a Live room session you starred has passed its start and the host has not opened the room yet, the card names that session and says it starts when the host goes live.
The rows under it cover the rest of the day:
- Also live: another session that is on now, with Join or Open link, so you can move to it.
- Ended, followed by the end time: a session from today whose replay is ready, with Watch replay.
- Next, followed by the start time: your next starred session. Its Join button stays greyed out, and the row reads Join opens when the host goes live, with the host's first name. A session without a Live room reads Starts on this card at its time.
Watch replays afterward
Replays come only from Live room sessions that had recording turned on, so in-person and meeting-link sessions have no replay on the event page. The Details card has a Recording row when any session is set to record. It reads Replays stay on each session, or Some sessions are recorded.
A replay appears once processing finishes, and there is no fixed wait. Anyone who can attend the event can watch its replays from these places:
- The join card, where a session that ended today shows Watch replay once its replay is ready.
- The Agenda on a multi-session event, where the session reads Ended · Replay ready and has Watch replay.
- The Replays tab on the event page, which lists every Live room session that has ended.
- The top of the page after the last session, where Watch replays opens the Replays tab. An event with no ended Live room session shows This event has ended.
If it does not work
- The join card is not showing: at a Live room session, no host has gone live yet. Meeting-link and in-person sessions put the card up at their start time, and the page checks the clock every 30 seconds.
- The top of the page shows Register: you are not registered, and the join card is for registered people. While a Live room session is live, Join shows there for anyone who can attend.
- The card says a session starts when the host goes live. The host has not opened the Live room yet. Keep the page open, and Join appears on the card as soon as they do.
- Nothing in your schedule is on right now. None of your starred sessions is on. Check the Next row, or join a session marked Also live.
- Join is greyed out: the session is not live yet. The button turns on when a host goes live.
- The link shows here for people who can attend. Guests see the link after they register or buy a ticket, and at an event where everyone buys a ticket, members see it after they buy one.
- The In person and Online choice is greyed out: the first session has started, or a host opened a Live room session early, so the choice is locked.
- Times differ between the page and a reminder email: the page uses your device's time zone, and reminder emails use the event's time zone with its short name. On a multi-session event, when the two zones differ, switch between Your time and Event time at the top of the Agenda.
- Watch replay is missing: the session did not use the Live room, recording was off, or the replay is still processing.
