Use Lockers
Register for an event
Register from the event page in one click or through the register sheet, then use your pass to add the event to your calendar, switch how you attend, or cancel.
The short version
- Select Register at the top of the event page. A one-session event that is not hybrid registers you in one click, and any other event opens a sheet that asks how you will attend and whether you want email reminders.
- Your pass then replaces the header. It counts down to the start and holds Add to calendar and the Manage menu.
- On a hybrid event you can switch between In person and Online until the first session starts. Ticket holders cannot cancel from the pass and ask the host for a refund instead.
Before you start
- You are signed in as an active member of the community. People outside the community take part as guests, which the guide Register or buy a ticket as a guest covers.
- The event is published and has not ended. Once it ends, the top of the page reads This event has ended. or offers Watch replays.
Find Register on the event page
Open the event from Calendar, or select Register on the event card in a Community announcement, which takes you to the same page. Register is in the header at the top of the page, with Free with your membership beside it and the registered count at the right.
On an event with one session that is not hybrid, there is nothing to choose, so Register signs you up in one click with email reminders on, and your pass replaces the header. On a hybrid event the note under Free with your membership reads Next you pick in person or online, and on a multi-session event it reads You pick your sessions after this. In both cases Register opens the register sheet.
Use the register sheet
The sheet opens on the right side of the screen, headed with the event title and its dates.
- 1
Choose how you will attend
This step appears only on a hybrid event. Under How will you attend?, select In person or Online. Each card shows how many people have registered that way, and the Online card says how you join, such as Join with the meeting link. The note under the cards reads You can switch later from your pass.
- 2
Choose email reminders
Under Email reminders, Remind me by email starts switched on. It emails you the day before, and 15 minutes before the event starts, or before each session you pick on a multi-session event. The emails go to the address on your Lockers account, and the guide Event reminders and notices describes each one.
- 3
Register
Select Register. If you skipped the attendance choice on a hybrid event, the sheet shows Choose in person or online. and waits for you to pick.
- 4
Finish
The sheet changes to You're in, followed by your first name, with a step to add the event to your calendar. A multi-session event adds a second step, Pick your sessions, with Open the agenda, which the guide Pick your sessions at a multi-session event covers. Select Done to close the sheet.
What your pass shows
After you register, your pass appears at the top of the event page in place of the header, marked You're in. It stays there until the event gets under way, and it comes in two sizes.
- Compact pass, for a one-session event that is not hybrid: the time and where it happens, a countdown that reads Starts in followed by the time left, Add to calendar, an Email me reminders switch, and the registered count. A line under the countdown says what to expect, such as The meeting link appears on this card when it starts.
- Full pass, for a hybrid or multi-session event: your name with Member, a countdown under Starts in, or under Your first session on a multi-session event, and the How you'll attend box on a hybrid event. What happens next lists the reminder emails you will get and the moment the event opens, with an Email reminders switch beside the heading. Add to calendar, My schedule with your pick count on a multi-session event, and the registered count run along the bottom.
Reminders and picks on the pass
Turning email reminders off removes the reminder emails from What happens next, so the list shows only the moment the event opens. On a multi-session event where you have not starred any sessions yet, the countdown box reads Pick your sessions until you do, because the countdown follows your picks. The guides Event reminders and notices and Pick your sessions at a multi-session event cover both in full.
Add the event to your calendar
Select Add to calendar on your pass, or in the sheet right after you register. The menu offers Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, and Outlook. For an event with one session and a set end time, Google Calendar opens in a new tab with the event filled in. Every other choice downloads one .ics file, which each of those calendar apps can import.
On a multi-session event the menu is headed with the event dates and every session, and the file holds every session of the event, including ones you did not star. Breaks and canceled sessions are left out. Each entry links back to the event page, where Join appears on the day.
The calendar entry is a copy made when you add it, and Lockers does not update it afterward. If the host moves a session, the event page has the current time.
See times in your zone or the event's
The event page shows times in your device's time zone, with the zone's short name beside them. On a multi-session event whose time zone differs from yours, the Agenda header has a switch with Your time and Event time. Event time moves the whole page, your pass and the agenda included, to the event's own zone.
The page does not save that choice, so it opens in Your time again on your next visit. When your zone matches the event's, the agenda header shows Times in, followed by the zone, with no switch.
Switch between in person and online
On a hybrid event, the How you'll attend box on your pass has In person and Online. Select the other option to switch. The In person and Online counts in the Who's going card change with you, and choosing In person shows the venue with Directions.
You can switch until the first session starts. The choice also locks once a Live room session goes live, which can happen up to 15 minutes before the start because the owner or an admin can open the room early. From then on both options are greyed out. Events that are not hybrid have no switch, because the format already decides how everyone attends.
Cancel your registration
Cancel from your pass before the first session starts. Once the event is under way, the join card takes the pass's place at the top of the page, and the join card has no Manage menu.
- 1
Open Manage
Select Manage at the top of your pass.
- 2
Choose Cancel my registration
It is the last item in the menu.
- 3
Confirm
The dialog asks Cancel your registration? and reads You lose your place and your session picks. You can register again while registration is open. Select Cancel registration to confirm, or Keep registration to leave your registration as it is.
Why ticket holders cannot cancel
If you bought a ticket, Manage has no Cancel my registration and reads Contact the host for a ticket refund. instead. The registration comes from the payment, so it ends when the payment does: a full refund from the host removes the ticket and the registration together. The Get a ticket sheet says so before you pay: The community owner handles refund requests.
What Members only means
The Details card on the event page includes Access and Page rows. Access says who pays, such as Free for members. Page says who can open the event page, and reads Members only, Anyone with the link, or Public.
Members only changes nothing about how you register. It matters when you share the link, because only members of the community can open the page. Someone who is signed out is sent to sign in first, and someone signed in without a membership in the community gets a page-not-found screen.
If the top of the page shows This event is for members of, followed by the community name, with See membership, your account has no registration or ticket open for this event. See membership opens Membership and purchases, where you can check your membership and payments for the community. If your membership looks right, ask the host.
If it does not work
- Choose in person or online. On a hybrid event, pick In person or Online in the sheet before you select Register.
- Registration is closed for this event. The event has ended.
- Attendance cannot be changed after the event starts. The first session has started, or a Live room session has gone live.
- Cancel my registration is missing from Manage: you bought a ticket. Ask the host for a refund.
- Manage is missing: the event is under way, and the join card has replaced your pass. The guide Join an event on the day covers the join card.
- The button reads Get a ticket instead of Register: members pay for this event too. The guide Register or buy a ticket as a guest walks through the same ticket steps members use.
- Your access to this community was removed. Contact the owner. Your account was removed or banned from the community.
- We could not register you for this event. Check your connection and select Register again.
