Start and manage a private group chat

Each group gets its own conversation. Starting another group with the same people creates a separate chat. Adding people to an existing direct chat starts a new group; your direct messages stay in the original conversation.

Open the group and select its title or Chat details. Select Add people to include active members of this Locker. A new member can read the earlier group history. A group holds up to 50 people, including you.

From Chat details, a group member can remove another person or leave the group. Removing someone ends their access to that chat. Leaving ends your access. Someone in the group can add you again later. A group stays a group if it falls to two people or you become its only member. If you are the only member, add someone before sending another message or leave the chat.

In Chat details, select Rename to set or clear the optional group name. Names can be up to 60 characters.

Turn on Mute this chat to stop its in-app alerts and push notifications. The chat stays in your inbox, and unread messages remain unread. Muted chats still count in the unread Messages badge.

Only current group members can read its messages. Owners and admins have no separate access to private chats. Leaving the Locker, removal, or a ban removes the person from the Locker's group chats; returning to the Locker does not restore those memberships.

Blocking someone prevents a direct chat and prevents either person from adding the other to a chat. It does not stop messages in a group that already includes both people.

Group chats support text messages up to 2,000 characters. They do not include attachments, channels, reactions, threads, message editing, or per-person read receipts.
