Use Lockers
Sign in to a community
Sign in or join from any community site with one Lockers account, using a password or Google, and know what to do when a sign-in does not complete.
The short version
- Selecting Sign in or Join on a community site sends you to lockers.social and brings you back to the page you started on.
- You sign in on lockers.social with your email and password, or with Continue with Google when it appears there. The same account covers every community you belong to.
- Some communities approve each new member, and some charge for membership. Joining those sends a request or takes you to the membership page.
Before you start
You need a Lockers account. If you do not have one yet, you create it during your first sign-in, so you can start from the community site either way. Signing in works the same on Community and Pro Lockers, and it does not depend on your role.
Your browser has to accept cookies from lockers.social and from the community's own address. A per-site block or a privacy extension that blocks one of the two will stop the sign-in on that site.
Sign in from a community site
That trip to lockers.social is what keeps your password in one place. No matter how many communities you belong to, the community sites themselves never ask for it.

Select Sign in
Open the community and select Sign in.

Land on lockers.social
The page sends you to lockers.social, where the form is headed Sign in to Lockers. with the line Use your email and password to continue.

Enter your details
Enter your email and password. If you use Google, select Continue with Google above the form instead.

Come back to the community
Lockers sends you back to the community. While the return finishes, the page shows Signing you in.

Pick up where you were
You land on the page you started from, signed in.
Sign in with Google
When Google sign-in is available, lockers.social shows Continue with Google above the email and password fields. Select it, choose your Google account, and Lockers brings you back to the community. If the button is not there, sign in with your email and password.
If your Google address already belongs to a verified Lockers account, Google signs you in to that same account. A new account created through Google starts with its email already verified, and you accept the Lockers terms before you join a community.
If Google does not start, the form says We couldn't start Google sign-in. Try again.
Join a community for the first time
The account comes first and the membership second, which is why the first thing you see is a Lockers account form rather than a community one. The same account then works for the next community you join.

Select Join
Open the community and select Join.

Start the account
On lockers.social, choose to create an account. The form is headed Create your Lockers account. You can also select Continue with Google if it appears.

Enter your details
Enter your email and a password.

Confirm your email
Lockers emails you a verification code. The screen reads Check your inbox., and the field is labeled Verification code. Type it there.

Join the community
Once the account exists, Lockers returns you to the community site, where you join the community itself.
Communities that approve members or charge for membership
Some communities approve each new member. In those, finishing your account sends a request instead of joining. The page shows Your request is waiting for approval with a Cancel request button, and it updates by itself when an owner or admin decides. If they approve you, you also get an email saying your request was approved.
If your request is not approved, the page says so and offers Request again. A community that charges for membership takes you to its membership page to pay instead of joining you straight away.
If you forgot your password
Reset it on lockers.social. The reset runs there in full, and when it finishes, the Return to sign in link puts you back on the sign-in form. Start the sign-in from the community again after that, so it returns you to the page you wanted.
When you are already signed in
If you signed in on lockers.social earlier in the same browser, entering a community shows no form at all. The page redirects twice and you are in. That is the same sign-in carrying over rather than a second login, and it is why you type a password once per browser instead of once per community.
If the sign-in does not complete
Two messages can appear on the community site. Both offer a Start again button, which begins the sign-in again from the community you were trying to enter.
- The message Sign-in link is not valid means the link you came back with is no longer good. Select Start again.
- The message Sign-in didn't complete. means the return ran out before you were signed in. Select Start again.
- If Start again keeps landing on the same message, check that cookies are allowed for both lockers.social and the community's address, then try once more.
