Take a course in the Classroom

Select Classroom in the community menu. Every published course is listed under three tabs: All courses, In progress and Finished. A course moves to In progress once you open one of its lessons and to Finished when every lesson in it is complete. The tabs show their counts once the whole list has loaded, and More courses at the bottom loads the rest.

Each course card shows the host, the number of lessons, and a chip for how you get the course: Included for members, the price followed by one-time, or Included with membership. The button on the card depends on where you are in the course.

The wide card at the top of All courses and In progress is your Continue card. It holds the last lesson you opened and have not completed, in a course you have not finished. The line above the lesson title gives the lesson's place in the course, then stopped at with the time you paused an uploaded video, or up next. Your progress and the time left sit below it, and the main button reads Continue lesson with the lesson number when the card shows a stopped-at time, or Start lesson when it does not. A YouTube lesson shows up next and Start lesson on this card, and the lesson itself still opens where you stopped.

Opening a lesson is enough to move it onto the Continue card, so the card follows the last lesson you looked at. The community feed shows the same lesson in its Continue learning card, with a Continue lesson button. When the next lesson you have not completed is in a module that has not opened yet, that course leaves both cards until the lesson opens, and its own course card says when that is.

When a module in one of your courses opens within the next six days, the Classroom also shows an Opens this week card with the module name and the day it opens.

Select a course title to open its page, and select Classroom at the top to go back. Under the title are the host, the number of modules and lessons, and an estimate of the course length when lesson lengths are known.

The first card is your next step. Before you begin it reads Start here, with the first lesson and Start the course. Partway through it reads Continue or Up next, with Continue lesson, or Start lesson and its number, plus your progress and the time left in the course. After the last lesson it reads Course finished, with Review lessons.

Each module card lists its lessons in order. A check marks a lesson you completed, and the lesson your next step opens says You are here with the point where you stopped, or Up next. A lock marks a lesson that is not open to you yet, and a locked row does not open from this page. When an earlier lesson, a purchase or a membership is holding it, the row says Opens after lesson with a number, Comes with the course, or Comes with membership. On a phone, select a module header to open or close it.

In a Pro community, a lesson with a quiz shows your best score at the right of its row once you submit an attempt. A quiz lesson reads, for example, Quiz · passed, 100% after a pass or Quiz · best 50% before one, and Quiz alone until your first attempt. A video lesson adds the result after its length, such as Video · 12 min · quiz passed, 75%.

Beside the modules, About this course shows the host, the lesson count, the course's access, such as Included for members, and whether the course gives a certificate when you finish. Your notes counts your notes in this course, and Open notes goes to the lesson with your newest one.

A host on Pro can open a module on a set date, or a number of days after you get access. Until then, the module header shows a chip that reads Opens today, Opens tomorrow, or Opens with the date, such as Opens Thu, Oct 8, in your own time zone.

A module on a days rule adds a line such as Module 2 opens 7 days after you joined. That line names what started the count: when you joined, when you bought the course, when you got access, or when your membership started.

Before you start, the Start here card lists the next two module openings. When every open lesson is done and the next one waits on a date, the card reads Up next with the opening date and You’re caught up until then.

A lesson opens in a focused player. The bar across the top holds the course title, which goes back to the course page, the lesson's place in the course, your progress and the time left. The course outline lists every module and lesson, with a check for done, a highlight on the lesson you are on and a lock on anything that is not open yet.

On a wide screen the outline starts open beside the lesson, and the panel button at the left of the top bar hides or shows it. On a phone, the list button at the top right opens the Course outline sheet, and the back arrow returns to the course page.

A video uploaded to Lockers picks up where you stopped and shows Resumed at with the time, plus Start over to play it from the beginning. A YouTube video at the top of the lesson does the same. A video you watched to the end starts from the beginning next time, and on a YouTube video, stopping in the last 10 seconds counts as watching to the end. Watching a video to the end does not mark the lesson done, so select Complete and continue when you are ready to move on.

The tabs sit under the video, and a count appears beside Discussion and Files when there is one.

The bar pinned to the bottom of the lesson has Previous on the left, Next on the right and your next step in the middle. On a lesson you have not completed, the middle button is Complete and continue. It marks the lesson done and opens the next lesson in the course, even when that lesson is locked, so you can see what it waits on. On the last lesson it reads Finish the course and opens the finish page.

The course finishes only when every lesson is done. If you reach the last lesson with earlier lessons not yet completed, the button stays Complete and continue, counts the earlier lessons left, and takes you to the first of them.

On a lesson you already completed, the middle button changes to Continue lesson, with Where you stopped under it, when your place in the course is a different lesson, and to Next lesson when the next one is open. On the last lesson of a finished course it reads See your certificate when the course gives one, and Back to the course when it does not.

When the next lesson is locked, Next shows the reason in place of its title, such as Opens after this one or Needs the course.

A quiz sits in the Lesson tab under its title. The line above the questions gives the number of questions, the pass mark, and the attempts left when the host set a limit. Answer every question, then select Submit answers.

A question with more than one right answer says Pick every answer that fits. It counts as correct when you pick all of the right answers and none of the others.

The result shows your score with Passed or Not passed yet, how many answers were correct, and each question marked Correct or Not quite. For a question you missed, it shows what you picked and the right answer, followed by the host's explanation when they wrote one. Select Try again for another attempt, or Retake after a pass while attempts remain.

Passing a quiz marks its lesson done. When the host requires a pass, Complete and continue stays unavailable until you pass, with Pass the quiz to continue under it, or Pass the quiz to finish on the last lesson. When the result says No attempts left, you have used every attempt the quiz allows.

Owners and admins taking a course in their own community are never held by a quiz. Complete and continue works for them before a pass, and they can still take the quiz.

You can open a locked lesson from the outline or with Next. The lock takes the place of the video and gives the reason, and the button at the bottom offers the step you can take now.

Finish the course on the last lesson opens the finish page. It reads Course finished and You finished with the course title, then the number of lessons and, when every lesson length is known, about how long the course took.

In a Pro community where the host turned on certificates, your Certificate of completion comes next. It shows your name, the course, the host, the issue date, a serial number and the address where anyone can check it. Download certificate saves it as a PDF, and Copy verify link copies a link that confirms the certificate.

Post in the community opens the post composer with I finished followed by the course title, linked to the course. You can edit it and choose where it goes, and nothing is posted until you select Post. When the course has no certificate, Post in the community is the only button.

Cards under the buttons lead to Your notes when you wrote any, the last lesson's discussion, and Back to Classroom. Later, See your certificate on the course page and the issue date under Certificate in About this course both open the certificate.

If you open the finish page before every lesson is done, it sends you to the next lesson you need.
